Funded Energy Redress Projects

Since the Energy Redress Scheme launched Phase One of the scheme in 2018, Energy Saving Trust has awarded over £102 million to fund nearly 538 projects across England, Scotland and Wales. These grants have enabled organisations to deliver projects that help energy consumers in vulnerable situations to save energy and money in their homes and to live warmer, more comfortable lives. Phase Two of the scheme launched in May 2022.

The Empower You Too project will be delivered in partnership by the Bromley by Bow Centre, Citizens Advice East End, Age UK East London and Poplar Harca, providing essential energy advice to 2,350 people in vulnerable communities in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham.

The Project aims to greatly expand their Healthy Homes programme that provides energy advice to distinct vulnerable groups including those with a Learning Disability, people with Autism and people living with a dementia.

The provision of in-depth advice and follow up support is projected to to reach 178 clients and lighter touch advice to more. They are looking to maximise long-term benefits for beneficiaries by providing advice to keep safe and warm, budgeting support around bills, energy efficiency and onward referrals to partner agencies.

Energy Support Project

This project will provide advice, support and advocacy concerning affordable energy and fuel poverty to vulnerable women and families living in South Sefton. The project will employ an Energy Support Co-ordinator who will work with a team of Money Management Mentor volunteers to deliver the project at the Venus Centre through drops ins and phone/email consultations.

They will deliver an outreach service within the family home, at drop-ins at local family centres and through a pilot of a new Meanwhile Money Management Shop such as pop-up spaces in local shopping centre.

Disability Energy Hub

The national disability equality charity Scope will launch a new telephone support service for disabled households struggling with their energy bills. Households across England & Wales with any disabled resident – adult or child – will be eligible for support and the service is free for all customers. Customers will be assigned their own energy advisor and choose appointment times to suit them. The advisor will navigate each customer through a series of steps to boost their finances and reduce their outgoings.

A Warm Welcome Home

This project will support vulnerable people about to leave hospitals in Wiltshire and Swindon with one-to-one in-depth personalised energy advice at a critical time in their lives, when they are at their most vulnerable and may have energy related money issues or risk returning to a cold and damp house, endangering their health. Two advisors, one at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, the other at Salisbury District Hospital will provide patients with in-depth energy advice, alongside ongoing casework and follow-up home visits to those needing more support.
