Energy Redress Funding - Round 13 Outcome

The following projects have been successful in securing funding in Round 13 of the Energy Redress Scheme to deliver projects across Great Britain. A total of £3,913,618.70 was awarded in this round. The grant recipients include the following.

Age Concern Tyneside South 
£49,925.45

My House is Cold Too will continue the work delivered within the past 2 years, by delivering high quality energy advice to vulnerable older people with referrals and practical measures given to improve fuel efficiency in their homes. They will continue to build staff skills and increase advice capacity to support over 900 more people with this project.

 

Foresight (North East Lincolnshire) Limited
£47,027.88

Making best use of my Energy will provide high quality advice and support which is currently unavailable on a local basis to disabled and older people residing in East Lindsey, North and North East Lincolnshire significantly improving quality of life through financial savings, warmer homes and a better understanding of the energy needs and usage resulting in behavioural change and positive decisions as a result of accessing the project.

West End Warmers will provide targeted Energy Advice Service to people over the age of 50, living in the west end of Newcastle Upon Tyne. They will also offer Energy Awareness Sessions to community groups reaching those most vulnerable and living in fuel poverty, providing energy saving advice and tips on how to keep warm and well in winter, to reduce the number telling us they have to choose between eating or heating their home.

Blairtummock Housing Association Ltd

Easterhouse Cosy Homes will provide an energy advice and advocacy service in 3 communities in Easterhouse, Glasgow. An Energy Advisor will support up to 750 households. This will build on their successful income advice service to tackle fuel poverty and address need and demand which has been identified -  low income and vulnerable households, families/individuals struggling to heat homes and pay energy bills, and new tenants who are at risk of becoming in debt. 

 

Citizens Advice Sutton

Energy Max is a collaborative project offering specialist fuel poverty advice and will be delivered across South West London covering a population of around 1.6million.  This partnership seeks to greatly improve fuel poverty and advice provision by going beyond standard referrals between organisations and undertaking a joint case handling approach. It will address an existing and rapidly growing shortfall in fuel poverty and debt advice services capacity and capability.

Stay Warm Go Green is a multi-faceted Energy advice service for BAME/Refugee communities offering targeted multi-lingual Energy saving advice and support, energy awareness workshops, new tenants information pack and distribution of small energy saving measures delivered by a team of qualified Multilingual Energy officers and Community Energy Champions. 

 

PEC Trust
£324,259.50

Energy Team will deliver fuel poverty support and energy advice through a single point of contact service for low income families and refugees. They will consolidate and expand partnerships to improve access to high quality, trusted energy advice. Trained advisors will offer advice in the home, community, drop-ins, online and in telephone consultations to reach 3200 residents.

Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
£701,556.98

Warm & Wise is a pioneering project specifically supporting older energy consumers in vulnerable situations across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, supporting 7,000 households in a two-year period with in-depth, personally tailored energy advice and the fitting of free energy-saving measures and minor repairs. In addition, in-depth telephone calls and energy-related support will increase householders' incomes via welfare benefits applications, all of which supports areas of high fuel poverty.

 

Citizens Advice Edinburgh
£51,033.36

EMPOWER  will provide personalised, targeted, energy advice to consumers within Edinburgh who are particularly vulnerable as a result of their recent unsecure living situation, low income, or health status.  Principally targeting individuals entering new tenancies, it will take an educational, preventative approach to stop new tenants from developing utility arrears and reaching a point of crisis, which may include self-disconnection.

 

Citizens Advice Hillingdon
£55,754.98

Heat 4 Hillingdon  is a partnership project between Citizens Advice Hillingdon, Bell Farm Christian Centre  (BFCC) and Disablement Association Hillingdon (DASH). It aims to provide advice and support on energy issues to vulnerable consumers across London Borough of Hillingdon. Citizens Advice Hillingdon brings expertise in energy advice and working with a variety of marginalised communities.

Tenants Powered Up will deliver intensive energy advice to people living in privately rented accommodation and vulnerable situations and will assemble a team of specialist Energy Advice workers. They will work closely with local authorities, the Combined Mayoral Authority, the Fire service, and voluntary sector partners to provide direct energy advice to around 2800 tenants. It will also help ensure landlords meet their obligations by working with local authority enforcement functions and by internal referral to our specialist Legal Aid Housing Advice provision.

Energy Advice Capacity Project will meet the increasing demand for energy advice from vulnerable customers and meet the current increased demand for energy advice and support in the wake of increased energy and living costs, and the ending of COVID-19 support. The project will also help those with complex needs to benefit from personalised and in-depth energy advice. 

 

South Seeds
£113,398

Working with Southside vulnerable energy consumers will solve residents' energy issues for one of the most densely populated areas in Scotland, where 35,000 residents live within a 20 minute walk. In an area of mixed tenure and mixed demographics, they will target vulnerable families living in privately rent accommodation and solve the energy issues of over 500 households per year.

Castlemilk Pantry Energy Advice Project aims to expand local provision across the Castlemilk community through an Energy Advisor who will provide support and advice to members of the Castlemilk Pantry. Castlemilk has a population of 14,000 an will aim to support those most vulnerable to fuel poverty to help them receive direct support and advice to implement long-term behavioural changes.

 

Inter Madrassah Organisation (IMO Charity)
£76,960

Be Warm, Save Money will support vulnerable people experiencing fuel poverty in Blackburn and Darwen to save energy, keep their homes warm, reduce bills, manage debt, and access appropriate benefits and grants. The project will support two main groups: people with English as a second language who have barriers to understanding vital information and elderly people who are socially and digitally excluded.

Hjaltland Housing Association

Fabric First Retrofit To Timber Kit will pilot a retrofit solution for difficult to treat timber kit properties to bring them up to the insulation standard of Hjaltland Housing Association’s new build properties through a fabric first approach to improve thermal performance, air tightness and reduce thermal bridging.  At present there is not an innovative solution for fabric first improvements to timber kit properties. 

 

Marches Energy Agency

Building Retrofit across the Marches will create and test a local delivery pathway for domestic retrofit. It will support and guide householders to invest with confidence, knowing they will significantly lower carbon, energy use and running costs, and make their homes warmer and healthier. Around 350 householders will be recruited and surveyed from a mix of on-gas/ off-gas, urban/rural, able-to-pay/ struggling financially, DIYers, old and new homes, owner occupier/ private rental.

 

Zero Carbon Harrogate

Retrofit Training and Engagement Programme aims to reduce the climate impact from domestic energy use in the Harrogate district by accelerating the delivery of local retrofit services. It will improve the accessibility of energy efficiency and renewable energy services for local households by addressing issues with both supply and demand for retrofit services. 

 

The Energy Advisory Service SCIO
£285,290

Fair Energy Isles will reduce emissions, demonstrate measurable and lasting reductions in the carbon intensity of energy use and accelerate the just transition to net zero in fuel poor households across the Outer Hebrides. This will improve the accessibility of renewable energy products, energy efficiency and services for fuel poor households by establishing a local decarbonisation service which offers advice and oversee the local supply chain. This aims to build an evidence base to help other remote rural communities replicate this work.

 

Nottingham Energy Partnership
£380,749.80

Conservation Retrofit Catalyst will reduce carbon emissions by improving the uptake and quality of retrofit for homes constructed before 1919 which comprise 21% of the UK housing stock and are proportionally the greatest contributor to carbon emissions from domestic buildings. Working alongside leading conservation architects, the partnership will address the additional steps required for traditional homes to access effective whole house retrofit, including compliance, funding, skills, uptake and performance. The project will be piloted in the Old Meadows Conservation Area in Nottingham and be used to develop a replicable model to overcome the specific barriers to retrofit in Conservation Areas and tackle one of the most significant challenges to meeting emissions targets for UK domestic buildings.
