Funded Energy Redress Projects

Since the Energy Redress Scheme launched Phase One of the scheme in 2018, Energy Saving Trust has awarded over £102 million to fund nearly 538 projects across England, Scotland and Wales. These grants have enabled organisations to deliver projects that help energy consumers in vulnerable situations to save energy and money in their homes and to live warmer, more comfortable lives. Phase Two of the scheme launched in May 2022.

Plymouth Community Solar

Plymouth Energy Community (PEC) is a developing a community owned solar farm in partnership with South West Water (SWW) and Four Greens Community Trust, a local CIC focused on tackling poverty, social isolation, and health inequalities. The project will deliver a community owned solar site with a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) established with SWW providing a long-term income for the community to deliver further community projects. The funding to take this project through the next stage of development.

Project Name
Carers Warm and Well Together

The Carers’ Warm and Well Together project will work with VASL’s Support for Carers (SfC) clients and partners across Leicestershire to support carers to save energy, reduce bills and maximise their incomes whilst maintaining their wellbeing. This will improve the lives of vulnerable carers, their cared for and wider family. The project will skill VASL’s Support for Carers workers to recognise energy issues, provide basic advice, and refer carers for support.  Carers receiving energy support will be followed up across the project and it will give VASL energy-related knowledge and skills for

Community-led Retrofit Service, Wales

A new community led pan-Wales retrofit technical and advisory service for owner occupiers (O/O) and the private rented sector (PRS).  The service will be hosted and delivered through existing trusted community-led organisations and will be based on PAS2035: Retrofitting Dwellings for Improved Energy Efficiency and delivered by accredited Retrofit Assessors and Retrofit Co-ordinators. The project will engage with the able-to-pay market, creating the confidence necessary to stimulate private investment by owner occupiers to carry out deep retrofit.

Energy Resilience Alliance: Empowering Vulnerable Communities

Citizens Advice Mid Mercia will lead an innovative collaboration between three Local Citizens Advice, local foodbanks, and Beat the Cold, to identify and engage with vulnerable Foodbank-users in East Staffordshire, Tamworth, Lichfield, Stafford, South Staffordshire and Cannock Chase. Through this collaboration vulnerable residents will be identified and provided with crisis support as well as holistic energy advice from energy advisors.

The project will expand a team of specialist energy advisers to provide intensive advice and support to 1,070 households in vulnerable situations and engage with a further 1,600 throughout Darlington, Redcar, Cleveland and Hartlepool to mitigate the effect of fuel poverty. The project will have two strategic focus areas. It will target tenants living in privately rented accommodation. It will also seek to uplift the numbers of BAME beneficiaries that would otherwise be achieved through its core service offering.

Community Action Northumberland will provide a high level of support to rural residents through energy advice from energy advisors, including one-to-one advice, group advice. Project Name
East Lancashire Energy Action (ELEA)

Citizens Advice Rossendale, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley (CARH) are merging with Burnley and Pendle Citizens Advice to create Citizens Advice East Lancashire. East Lancashire Energy Advice (ELEA) will help 4,500 vulnerable people living in fuel poverty to improve their energy use. ELEA will offer holistic energy advice to vulnerable households, including those on low incomes, older people, and people with physical and mental health issues.
